San Antonio Spurs beat Houston Rockets to take 3-2 lead

He says he will play in Game 6. It seemed when the Spurs were missing all their shots so too were the Rockets. Green then electrified the capacity crowd with a ringing 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds to play in the quarter to push the Spurs back on top 86-85, setting the stage for a furious finish. Patty Mills contributed 20 points to the winning effort. "The diving on loose balls, coming up with whatever it may be, you're throwing your body on the line in those situations". But Harden's hopeful shot was foiled by Ginobili, who swept in from behind to unleash the block heard round the world. During the entire time he sat, Spurs trainers worked on his ankle on the sideline to try and reduce whatever damage they could.

Ginobili's biggest offensive play came when he hit a scooping off-balance layup to tie the score at 101 with 34 seconds left for the final score of regulation.

The Spurs tried to exploit a size advantage over the Rockets' small lineup early, especially when Harden was guarding either Aldridge and Gasol.

Patty Mills started the game and finished with 20 points off 7-f0r-16 shooting from the field. The consensus of the talking heads was that the Rockets were exhausted late in the game. He had a chance to tie the game at the end but was eventually blocked from behind by Manu Ginobili. "I don't feel like I had a huge game", Ginobili told reporters. The San Antonio Spurs are averaging 105.9 points on 46.7 percent shooting and allowing 102.2 points on 44.9 percent shooting.

Mills had already performed the job Popovich wanted when he elevated the Australian from the bench to be his starting point guard.

As the final play developed, it fell to Manu Ginobili to make the stop. The Spurs star grimaced with pain before limping back to the bench during the next stoppage of play. He had a left ankle and knee injuries.

"I just missed shots", Harden said.

Nene was injured in the first quarter of Houston's 125-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday night and didn't return.

Game 6 in Houston is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Toyota Center. Kawhi's injury knocked him out of the last ten minutes of the game (including overtime) so it was up to Manu to step up his game. Beverley drained a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, prompting San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich to scream and point at official Derrick Stafford.

The game was close and very competitive in the first quarter.
