Golden State Warriors will play San Antonio Spurs in WCF

THE San Antonio Spurs started a playoff game for the first time in 17 years without a starter named Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard.

Getting the nod in place for Leonard for San Antonio was Jonathon Simmons, who scored 18 points in his first-ever National Basketball Association playoff start. For context, if the Cavaliers sweep through the Eastern Conference Finals as they have the first two rounds, LeBron James won't play his 92nd game until Game 6 of the Finals.

With the victory, the Spurs earn their shot at the Golden State Warriors, a Western Conference Finals matchup many anticipated last season before the Thunder disrupted those plans. If the Celtics win, they would move on to host the Cleveland Cavaliers to open the Eastern Conference finals. The 25-year-old told reporters that he would play in Game 6 shortly after the Spurs claimed a 3-2 edge in the series following a 110-107 win on Tuesday. The loyal fans who did stay, though, gave the starters a little standing ovation when they went out of the game with just over three minutes left.

"Yeah, I think everybody was [surprised with the performance]", Green said. They're a fast-paced team that likes to shoot on the perimeter. He shot an impressive 47.3 percent from the floor a surprisingly robust figure overall considering he shot just 32.4 percent from three and only 55.9 percent at the foul line.

After Game 5, Leonard initially was confident he'd suit up for Game 6 despite the injury.

"Patty controlled everything really well. everyone contributed and it was a real team effort", said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

Harden also played solid defense, helping hold Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge to 15-for-42 shooting as he rotated assignments in Houston's smaller lineup. With Game 6 of the Spurs and Rockets shifting to Houston, the latter have home court advantage in their favor.

P.J. Tucker would be a good free agent target in the summer. "You have to prepare for this team a different way". "Houston's another story and we'll meet back here (San Antonio) and try again". The Rockets shot just 28.6 percent from field goal range and turned the ball over 13 times.

Both teams have suffered injuries to key players.

In fact, the Rockets made just 13 of the 40 3-pointers they took, a stark contrast to their 22-of-50 explosion from Game 1. "I couldn't really get in a rhythm, especially to the basket". "He was an absolute beast (Thursday), and that's who he is". The Spurs showcased their total team play, as six players finished scoring in double-digits.

"Well, you know, he's been like that through these first two rounds", Popovich said of Aldridge. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoff picture. But I haven't thought about it. Two of those performances came in a series-clinching win (2014, 2017). The Spurs worked the paint and didn't shoot too many threes.

But they're ready for the challenge.

"Everyone is on the same page on what we're trying to achieve", said Mills. "This was a good series and we're moving on, but we're not satisfied".
