Doc Rivers: Tough to Watch Kevin Durant Join Warriors

The point is, the Warriors are mostly prolific scorers but it's always a different setting when it comes to the Finals.

While there has been little intrigue all season long, a ho-hum regular season and predictable start to the playoffs will soon be a distant memory if the Cavs and Warriors produce a memorable series like a year ago.

Let the Warriors shoot 50 percent, they're nearly certainly going to win. Kevin Love posted the photo to Instagram. Lue made subtle tweaks to his rotation, drew up key inbounds plays, then isolated Irving late in Game 7 on Curry.

Barring a sweep by either team, the series would go back to Oakland for Game 5 on June 12.

Cleveland-Golden State 3.0 is the matchup fans worldwide expected and wanted, and James believes they're in for quite a show.

SMALL FORWARD: Kevin Durant vs. LeBron James. He is also averaging career playoff highs in shooting percentage (.566) and 3-point shooting (.421) while grabbing 8.0 rebounds and dishing out 7.0 assists. However, the Cavaliers will need to play better defense and do a better job on the glass if they are going to have any shot at beating the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Will J.R. Smith get hot from three one game? Kyle Korver will hit a few big shots. Smith has had a quiet postseason, playing more than 30 minutes and taking more than eight shots just once in the Eastern Conference finals.

And while Durant has been a huge factor in why the Warriors have looked so deadly, Stephen Curry deserves his fair praise. Brown has taken over as the team's head coach since Game 3. Go with Golden State winning Game 1 and this series in six.

James (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013), Durant (2014) and Curry (2015, 2016) have collected seven of the last eight Most Valuable Player awards. Meanwhile, McGee (74 percent), Livingston (61), West (57) and Clark (52) have shot it great.

In 1971, the Warriors moved across San Francisco Bay to Oakland, and changed their geographic name to Golden State to symbolize the entire state of California. Kerr, who lead the team to a championship in 2015, won't coach the team during Thursday's Game 1 but hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning for the remainder of the best-of-seven series.

As important as Kerr might be on the bench, the Warriors haven't missed a beat without him. By the way, the former MVP is in as good a place as he's been heading into these Finals. After finishing second in the National Basketball Association behind Curry in regular season triples made for a fourth straight season, Thompson has been decidedly average offensively during the postseason, shooting just 38 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from 3-point range while averaging 14.4 points per game - down several from his 22.3 mark in the regular season.
