LeBron James moves up on Forbes' list of top paid athletes

When he's out, it's a laugher. It showed him sitting in a New Orleans barbershop during February's All-Star Game festivities while chatting with, among others, Golden State forward Draymond Green, Charles Oakley and rapper 2 Chainz.

The downsides are easy to see as well, however, including the Golden State Warriors juggernaut he's met in the last three NBA Finals suddenly sharing a division with him and a more hard path towards his ninth straight Finals (let's just assume the Cavaliers go next year because the Eastern Conference is terrible). Cleveland lost by five.

The Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry is not paid like one of the top players in the National Basketball Association. The Cavs still had a chance, and when LeBron caught an inbounds pass in the corner, he seemed to have plenty of space to fire up a three. When James was out last night, even for the shortest of periods, everything fell apart immediately and drastically. He rested only two minutes. And a fan who sat near the Warriors' bench was ejected late in the third. The Cavs were up by three and trying to close out a game they desperately needed to win.

James brings up the emotionally charged letter posted by Cavs owner Dan Gilbert in the immediate wake of James' joining the Heat. "Stay in front of them". They thrive on a fast pace, sprinting downcourt after missed shots and turnovers and destroying their opponents in transition. Fatigue will play a role.

This feels like a good time to note that LeBron inexplicably led the National Basketball Association in minutes played this season, at the age of 32. Both those guys were wonderful, 38 and 39 [points]. "It's what you've got and how you take care of it". Even with that explanation, he said, his mother maintained a stance of, "You go back, I ain't going back with you".

Typically, that gives the edge to the Warriors, and they punished the Cavaliers by draining a Finals-record nine 3-pointers in the first quarter, making seven of their first nine attempts.

This year is almost the same despite the Cavs being winless, James averaging 32.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.38 blocked shots, standing second only in blocks and rebounds.

This series is over. And he is; he has.

In Game 3 alone, James fired 39 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and issued 9 assists in 46 minutes of play. So but I lay it all on the floor, and I did that tonight, gave everything that I had, both mentally and physically. "He's earned it. He has been in this league for a long time and he's, I think, at the top of his game at the biggest time".

He gets a day of rest.
