Grading the Kyrie Irving - Isaiah Thomas trade

Cleveland initially traded Irving for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets' unprotected 2018 first-round pick.

It's official. 25 year old point guard, Kyrie Irving is now the newest member of the Boston Celtics as a 2020 2nd round pick via the Miami Heat as resolved all conflict prompted behind the Isaiah Thomas hip injury concern.

ESPN reported earlier Wednesday the Cavaliers still were seeking a first-round pick, but Boston won the game of chicken. That contradicted Wojnarowski's story Tuesday night, which said discussions moved to include second-round considerations.

He has been rehabilitating it since his season ended. "I spent part of my life and my years in the National Basketball Association in such a great environment in Cleveland, and being there from the start in 2011, and it now coming to an end in 2017, which is still insane in my mind".

As one can imagine, it was an extremely hard task for Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert to find the right trade to replace a player in Irving who is coming off a career year. "I'll be back, and I'll be the same player".

Now that the deal is actually done, we can turn full attention to how the new pieces will fit with their new teams.

Thomas told ESPN that doctors said his torn labrum will not affect how long he plays.

However, ESPN analyst Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that the Cavaliers are not looking for any further compensation in response to Thomas' injury, according to a August 29 Bleacher Report article. Multiple sources told me that Gilbert is operating under the assumption that LeBron will opt out of his contract next summer and leave Cleveland.

CLEVELAND- An era in Cleveland Cavaliers history has come to an end. I don't think Irving will like it if you pull him back in after he was inches away from freedom.

In the spirit of complete transparency, Thomas continued to spill all the beans on his injury, putting everything out on the table. With the deadline approaching, the Celtics finally added a 2020 second round pick in its shipment to the Cavaliers.

Irving starts off by speaking on why he asked to be traded, looking for a place that would be "conducive to his talent and maximize his potential".
