The Rams beat the Cowboys. Jeff Fisher's ghost is exorcised

Players win games in the National Football League, so let's give Jared Goff the credit he deserves.

Too bad it only lasted a half. After the Rams allowed 24 points and 287 yards in the first half on Sunday, the Cowboys were shut out in the third quarter and had only two first downs. "We've got to come out there like it's a new game". He went 10 for 12, for 139 yards, in that preseason debut for the Cowboys, then took over for the injured Tony Romo and led Dallas to a 13-3 record.

Dallas stormed out to a 17-6 lead, but things changed following a muff by return-man Ryan Switzer. Jared Goff passed for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

"This offense, this team is not going to do that, 2-2 and a lot of football left", Prescott added, per Todd Archer of ESPN. While the Dallas secondary was hardly filled with world beaters previous year, they were proven veterans with experience. This time it was Alfred Morris doing the heavy lifting.

Yes, it was there early, but then it suddenly faded and with it went the Cowboys chances to win the game.

This isn't to say the world is ending completely-yet. On the Cowboys' next possession, he took control. There are positives. Namely, the offense put up thirty points, which is the high water mark of the young season. The Rams went with a zone blitz and linebacker Alec Ogletree was able to slip between Jonathan Cooper, Frederick and eventually Elliott to force Prescott to scramble to the right. The offense was rolling.

Dalton missed on only one of 18 throws in the first half as the Bengals (1-3) built a 21-0 lead. "I just try to get them the ball and let them make plays".

Little did Garrett know the Cowboys would get three cracks at a 2-point conversion. "Tavon, I guess he's the mini-running back now and I'm the mini-receiver", Gurley said. Yesterday, he not only led the club in rushing, with 23 carries for 121 yards, he led them in receiving, with seven catches for 94 yards, including that highlight-reel catch-and-dash. The promising quarterback also successfully scrambled a couple of times to avoid getting sacked by the Rams defense.

Just when all seemed lost, though, the Dallas offense finally found its legs.

Their best play came at the end, when they needed it most.

Prescott earlier had a 10-yard scoring run that ended with a flip at the goal line as he tried to dive past three defenders. The Cowboys had just scored a touchdown, and followed up by converting on their two-point attempt.

Last season in seven games played, Goff tossed five touchdowns in 2016, so far in four games this season, he has seven and has thrown for as many yards this season (1,072) as he did all of past year (1,089). And we expected there would be a slew of 3-1 clubs in the NFC, including the clubs that played in last year's NFC title game, the Falcons and Packers. Ten plays later, it was over.

What's Next for the Rams: The Rams host the Seattle Seahawks Sunday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

At 2-2, Dallas is at a bit of a crossroads to their season.

Green Bay, which beat the top-seeded Cowboys in a divisional playoff last season, visits Sunday.
