Stephen Paddock His Unobstructed Lollapalooza View from Chicago Hotel Room

"The hotel directly overlooked the main stage as well as several adjoining stages", the TMZ report states. Paddock booked a second room there on August 3. The Chicago hotel said no one by that name stayed at the hotel, ABC News reported.

He says police also plan to meet with hotel officials in coming days to discuss ways for them to increase security.

The 64-year-old gambler and retired accountant had also researched the city of Boston, NBC News reported, citing senior law enforcement officials who have been examining the gunman's electronic records.

So far, examinations of Paddock's politics, finances, any possible radicalization and his social behavior - typical investigative avenues that have helped uncover the motive in past shootings - have turned up little.

TMZ says Paddock never checked in to the rooms, but claims he had specifically requested "view rooms" facing Grant Park, where hundreds of thousands of people flocked over the four-day concert.

Stephen Paddock's potential targets included the most recent Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, which was held August 3 to August 6 in Grant Park, the officials said.

The shooter in last weekend's attack in Las Vegas had his eyes on two other major USA cities, officials told NBC News on Thursday. Both dates had an August 6th checkout, the same day the festival ended.

Paddock, who lived in Mesquite, Nevada, fired on the crowd of 22,000 for about 10 minutes, and killed himself as police closed in on him, authorities have said.

At a news conference Tuesday, Las Vegas Sheriff Joe Lombardo said he could not confirm whether Paddock had eyed the Life Is Beautiful gathering. They said they also found ammonium nitrate, another ingredient that can be used to make explosives, in his vehicle in Las Vegas. His renting the condo was curious because, as a high-roller, he could have easily gotten a free room at one of the casino hotels on the Vegas Strip.

On 1 October, he opened fire on the country music concert taking place below.

Investigators have said the attack was meticulously planned.

On Wednesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation questioned his girlfriend, 62-year-old Marilou Danley, who was out of the country during the attack.

Officials said most of that money was from gambling. While there, he wired her $100,000 and told her to buy a home for her and her family.

The official, who was not authorized to comment publicly, said Thursday that information referencing other locations is being drawn from investigators' continuing analysis of Paddock's communications devices.

It became clear pretty quickly that the shooter, Stephen Paddock, had put significant planning into the attack.
